Hip Hop Monday: Eminem – My Name Is
Oct 20th
I find it slightly ironic that Marshal Mathers jumping in to the lime light was my turning point for taking Hip Hop seriously again. Go figure.
After hooking up with Dr. Dre, Eminem burst in to action in 1999. The drought of catchy, chart topping rhymes had come to an end and Slim Shady had arrived.
This was his debut single taken from his first album on Aftermath, The Slim Shady LP. Enjoy!

Hip Hop Monday: Jurassic 5 – Whats Golden
Oct 6th
I first heard this on DJ Rectangle‘s Faders Of Fury mixtape around 2004. I remember it so well because I thought he was lucky to get it to do the ‘woop’ intro and make it drop at the right time – you live and learn.
With feel-good vocals and a definitive dance floor vibe, ‘Whats Golden’ sounds just as good at a club as it does at home.
Produced by DJ Nu-Mark and taken from Jurassic 5‘s third album, Power In Numbers [2002]. Enjoy.

Hip Hop Monday: LMFAO – Im In Miami Bitch
Sep 30th
Yes I know, its not Monday. However, because its minging outside, and its nearly Wednesday, I thought I would cheer the week up a bit with some Electro tinged Hip Hop.
I discovered this group about a year ago, they did a remix of a Fergie track which I still play out. They should be signed, but the way the market stands, it couldn’t hurt to go it alone. LMFAO have a great vibe about them, and as the name suggests, they’re all about having fun with it. Anyway, enough of the filler, here’s Im In Miami Bitch!

Hip Hop Monday: Mos Def – Ms Fat Booty
Sep 22nd
Brooklyn born Mos Def first passed by the radar in the late 90′s as one half of the group Black Star (with Talib Kweli). It wasn’t until his solo release a year later that I heard this track. Taken from the 1999 Black on both sides album, heres the story of Ms. Fat Booty. Enjoy!
