Old School: Dream Frequency – Take Me

Time for another old-school, mid-week dance track. 1992 was another fantastic year, and one that really started to see the Hardcore movement take over. The BPM’s started to climb away from the House tempo’s and this track from Dream Frequency’s One Nation album was one of those turning points.
I still remember hearing this at Rezerection in 1994, it nearly pinned me to the wall. Enjoy

Wednesday once and again and this week I thought I would jump back to 1991 for the Old School post.
This was Future Sound Of London‘s first single and it went on to reach number 22 in the UK charts. Taken from the album Accelerator, this track was an instant hit when it was released. In my eyes and many others, one of the greatest tracks of the era and it still sounds fresh today. Enjoy!

Old School: USURA – Open Your Mind

Here’s something I stumbled upon while sorting out my (tiny) collection of 45′s. U.S.U.R.A first surfaced out of Italy with Open Your Mind in 1992 and went on to release ‘The Album’ a year later. Taking a sample from the movie Total Recall worked wonders for the generation of pill heads that closely followed the early rave sound.
I used to love playing this version, but in 1997 was disapointed by the remixes by DJ Quicksilver. Anyway, ask someone to flick the light switch on and off while you dance on your table for 5

The Monday morning Hip Hop track seems to be going OK so far, so I thought Wednesday would make a nice place to throw in an old-school rave day! What better way to party mid-week than with something we all love from the past? No, not Wispa’s.
